For Gino it was back to back wins. He now sits with Turnbull P., Turner and Kew as having been in a winning team twice Congratulations to Mark Warton for winning the Bobby DaveT. He finally gets to take home the trophy he donated, after waiting 12 months.Congratulations to John Turnbull for getting his first longest drive award. The final confirmation relieving hours of stress as he watched the groups behind him.
And what about the West 3 Award? After considering a number of nominations, Jipper with two drives backwards across to adjoining fairways on each day was the Winner. According to West 3 rules, if he turns up next year he gets to award the west 3 otherwise it’s up to the Directors. (Oh no you mean we have to be Nice to him).

RMPG Final newsletter for 2007

Only 52 weekends to go

The Year the great weather returned!!

RMPG 2007 will be remembered for the return of the great weather, the year
some of the boys drove up on the Thursday night for the first time, and therefore the year the Avenel road house almost went into receivership, (I said almost, they cheered when I walked through the door on Friday morning) and the controversy over the “Two Club Hole” for the not so serious golfers. Congratulations to Mark Warton for winning his second “Blue Jacket" (3 shot penalty next year), and to the Team of Warton, Debiase Bobbera and Day, for an outstanding win in the Ambrose event. Warton and Day now equal Trapani’s effort of 3 wins for this event. Congratulations to Paul Burland for winning the Bobby Davet. Congratulations to David Turner for getting his first longest drive award. (He said it would never happen). Commiserations to Amador Garcia who lost the blue jacket by 0.5 of a stroke in the Callaway event.

And what about the West 3 Award. After considering a number of nominations, a late betting plunge by John Stewart saw him take out the award.
Highlights of 2007 were Paul Burland’s Video, Paul Burland and Brendan Marrinon’s return to RMPG, the unique use of a Left handed club by Gino, the Yarrawonga Golf Club Captain advising us the result of the Collingwood Geelong replay 5 mins before the end, Andrew Rowell’s two Birdies, the Bobby Davet trophy (doorstop), the return of the West 3 shield and renovated broomstick driver. Dave Turner wins a Longest Drive. Tony Dhar wins a nearest the pin.

2006    The Year the Rains Came !!

RMPG 2006 will always be remembered as "the year of wet weather golf". In the previous 11 years of the RMPG event, it had never rained while we were on the course. That all changed in 2006. Happy farmers, unhappy golfers!

Congratulation to
Rob Widdop for winning his first "Blue Jacket" (3 shot penalty next year Rob) and to the Team of Pete Turnbull, Rob Widdop, Glenn Meredith and Tony Trapani for an outstanding win in the Ambrose event. Still trying to work out how Jipper is on the winning team so often !!  Understand that Rob recently met with previous winner Paul Burland. Paul still recovering from the sight of Rob in the blue jacket!

And what about the West 3 Award. After considering a record number of nominations, Pete & Tex really could not go past Tony Kew. Two things made Pete's weekend - knocking off Tony is a "nearest to the pin" and then awarding him the West 3.  Tony now holds the award that he had made. Kind of poetic!

Highlights were seeing
Jacko in his MFC coloured cap after the annual capitulation of the Tiggers, PP watching the Swans on the telly for the first time in years, Tony Dhar winning squillions at the card table (at least it went to someone who needs the money!), PT playing Ambrose with new player Glenn, oops we won!, Tex not winning one on the 4 longest drives (impossible!!), Gino's 78 nominations for the West 3, more nana naps than an old folks home!, Avenel breakfast, the annual changing if Jip & Kewies alarm clock, counting 20 bottles of red on a table of 20 blokes?!, JT poking the pokies for a win, the Pigeon loft for a latte, etc.

RMPG 2007 returns to the Yarrawonga & Border Golf Club

The final duties of the Conveners for 2006 was to arrange the venue for 2007. After much negotiation, the dates & tee times are as follows:

Venue
Yarrawonga & Border Golf Club
Dates
13 July to 15 July 2007
Tee Times:
Friday - 11.45 am on the Murray Course
Saturday - 9.45am on the Lakes Course

Book this weekend now!!!!!!!

Yes, we have the Saturday tee off time we have always wanted !! (Thank god and
well done Tex.)

We now hand over the "reins" to Steve Day & Dave Turner who will be arranging the event for 2007. Don't worry, they have already retained Tex's services as "Event Handicapper" for 2007. Tex will continue to work on  the "approved methodology" to ensure a close finish in 2007. We looked up 'approved methodology' in the dictionary and it referred us to A. Dhar and JT for a legal opinion!

As always, pls pass on this email to anyone who is not on the mailing list

Happy Golfing
